Product Details

A vibrant and happy looking evergreen, the Sunshine Ligustrum is sure to brighten up your landscape.  Put these in the front of your home for friendly, cheerful appeal.  Your guests and neighbors will beg to know where you got those unique, lemon yellow shrubs.

You will enjoy year-round shiny, golden foliage with this non-invasive ligustrum.  New growth emerges a light green and transitions to a deeper and more brilliant yellow as it ages.  Cool weather brings the added bonus of a slight orange hue cast over the golden leaves.  This shrub grows to about 4 feet tall and wide.  The Sunshine Ligustrum has an upright, but spreading natural habit, but can be shaped any way you like.

The Sunshine Ligustrum is fantastic as a freeform plant in a mixed bed, perfect for a low hedge or border, and attractive as anchor or foundation plants.  This Ligustrum is large enough to be used as a main plant in a border, but small enough so that is does not obscure landscape views. These shrubs look great planted along a walkway or around a patio or deck.  Plant in masses of 3 or more for big color impact. This Ligustrum adds contrast, color, and depth planted in a group in front of privacy hedges.  The lemon yellow color of the Sunshine Ligustrum offers a deep contrast against your lawn and other green or blue plants.  This golden evergreen even grows well in containers.

Let them grow naturally for a more artistic look, or prune them to your hearts content for a clean manicured look.  This ligustrum looks great either way.  Plant about 3 feet apart for a tight hedge and 5 feet to allow for separation when mature.

Your Sunshine Ligustrum will thrive in full to part sun.  However, the more sun this evergreen gets, the more vibrant the yellow.  Ligustrum are adaptable to any well-drained soil.  Also known as privets, Ligustrum generally grow in warmer planting zones, but the Sunshine Ligustrum can grow all the way into a zone 6 with good results.  Keep your ligustrum fertilized with a balanced, slow release fertilizer for the fastest growth.  We have our own custom blend made to give your new plants the best start!  Fertilize Ligustrum when planting, in early spring, and in late summer.  Ligustrum can withstand heavy pruning, but don't require it.  Prune any time of the year.

This shrub is pest and disease resistant and once established is virtually maintenance free!  The Sunshine Ligustrum is even drought, heat, pollution, and deer tolerant!

Add this sunny, cheery shrub to your landscape for brilliant color and contrast!  Order this popular plant today!

How To Care for your new Sunshine Ligustrum

You can plant your Sunshine Ligustrum in full to partial sun.  However the more sun this evergreen gets, the brighter the color. Ligustrum are extremely adaptable to just about any soil.  However, avoid areas with standing water or constantly saturated soil.  This condition promotes disease.  Also known as Privets, Ligustrum generally grow in warmer planting zones.  The Sunshine Ligustrum can grow in planting zones 6 to 10.  Remember to always keep your plants fertilized with a high quality, slow release fertilizer.  We have our own custom blend made to give your new plants the best start!  Fertilize Ligustrum when planting, in early spring and, again, in late summer or early fall.  Water your ligustrum deeply upon planting and once or twice weekly while establishing their root systems.  Once established, you will only need to water during extremely dry periods.  Ligustrum can withstand heavy pruning, but don't require it.  Prune any time of the year.

These shrubs are pest and disease resistant and once established are virtually maintenance free!  The Sunshine Ligustrum is drought, heat, pollution, and deer tolerant.

Planting Directions

Step 1:

Unpack all of your plants right away! Look for the perfect location. Make sure you are planting in the correct light conditions.

Step 2:

Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball. Position your plant in the hole. Make sure the top of the root ball is slightly higher than the original grade of the bed. Also check to make sure it is straight from all sides.

Step 3:

Fill up hole with water before placing new plant in hole in order to saturate the surrounding soil.  Once the water is absorbed place your plant in the hole and water thoroughly.

Step 4:

Mix the potting soil and the soil removed from the hole. Start by backfilling soil around the root ball. Carefully pack in the soil to remove any air pockets. Water plant thoroughly again until the soil will not hold any more water. This will ensure that your new plant will be a success.

Step 5:

Fertilize around your plant with the amount recommended on the package. Our special Fertilizer contains all of the nutrients to keep your plants growing and healthy. Repeat every 3 months.

Step 6:

Finish up by mulching around your new plant.  Apply 1-2 inches of mulch around the plant and plant bed. Mulch will help keep the soil moist and keep weeds out.

Step 7:

Keep watered with a hose every 2-3 days for 2 weeks. This is critical for plant survival. In the third week, begin to water as needed depending on the weather. Always check by placing your finger under the mulch to see if the soil is moist.

Awesome Color
This is a beautiful shrub and the yellow leaves are so much brighter and prettier than the pictures shows. Plus, the underlying green gives it depth and makes it pop that much more. I'm also please with how it arrived. It was shipped and packed so well that the soil was still moist and still in the container. I highly recommend this shrub if you need extra color to your landscape.
