Product Details

The Emerald Green Thuja is the most popular medium size "green screen" tree.  If you are looking for an evergreen screen without the extreme height of the Thuja Green Giant or the Leyland Cypress the Emerald Arborvitae is the perfect choice.

The Emerald Green is beautifully shaped with a stunning, lush, green density that is beyond compare.  Emerald Greens add value and beauty to any home, building or property.  Many customers utilize this tree as an easily manageable living fence, but because of its unique flowing and twisting branched foliage the Emerald Green is prized as a single specimen as well.

The Emerald Arborvitae makes a great privacy hedge.  Plant 2-3 feet apart where you would like to have privacy.  For instant impact start with larger trees.  We offer a variety of sizes to suit any budget or landscape plan.

If you are seeking a nice specimen tree with some height in front of your home, plant an Emerald Arborvitae on each side of a window.  The Arborvitae will give you some height, breaking up the surface of the wall.  Then under the windows you can plant your choice of shrubs.  They will anchor in the window or door.  Emerald Greens are great anchors for the corners of your home as well.

This Arborvitae grows in hardiness zones 3-8.  There are very few areas in the US this tree won't thrive.  The mature size is 14 feet tall and are 4-5 feet wide.  Emeralds keep their beautiful lush green color all year round.

Planting & Care

How to Plant & Care for Your new Emerald Arborvitae Tree

The Emerald Green Thuja is one of the easiest trees to grow.  They are for the most part maintenance free...yes maintenance free so you can spend your time enjoying your trees rather than fussing over them.

For a privacy hedge, space your new trees about 3-4 feet apart on center for faster privacy.  You don't have to plant your trees in a straight line...Get creative!  Go curvy and try something different.

Emerald Arborvitae trees need to be watered heavily at time of planting.  Be sure not to let your new trees dry out within the first few months before they are established.  We recommend watering your trees as soon as they arrive even before you plant them.  This will ensure that the roots are moist and ready for planting.

Some "bronzing" is typical during very cold winters but is merely cosmetic and will fade away in spring.

Planting Instructions

Step 1:

Unpack all of your plants right away! Look for the perfect location. Make sure you are planting in the correct light conditions.

Step 2:

Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball. Position your plant in the hole. Make sure the top of the root ball is slightly higher than the original grade of the bed. Also check to make sure it is straight from all sides.

Step 3:

Fill up hole with water before placing new plant in hole in order to saturate the surrounding soil.  Once the water is absorbed place your plant in the hole and water thoroughly.

Step 4:

Mix the potting soil and the soil removed from the hole. Start by backfilling soil around the root ball. Carefully pack in the soil to remove any air pockets. Water plant thoroughly again until the soil will not hold any more water. This will ensure that your new plant will be a success.

Step 5:

Fertilize around your plant with the amount recommended on the package. Our special Fertilizer contains all of the nutrients to keep your plants growing and healthy. Repeat every 3 months.

Step 6:

Finish up by mulching around your new plant.  Apply 2 - 3 inches of mulch around the plant and plant bed. Mulch will help keep the soil moist and keep weeds out.

Step 7:

Keep watered with a hose every 2-3 days for 2 weeks. This is critical for plant survival. In the third week, begin to water as needed depending on the weather. Always check by placing your finger under the mulch to see if the soil is moist.

Beautiful aborvitaes
Can't begin to tell you how pleased I am with this order. My first time dealing with The Planting Tree. I have dealt with other online nurseries and have been really disappointed in you he past. These trees were not bare root but in pots and shipped 2 to a box. There were so healthy and green. Thank you very much. I am planting them in 4' high planters that will go into a fire pit area. So happy with this product.

Nice little trees
These trees arrived very well-packed, quite moist, and in great shape. I'd never ordered trees by mail / internet before, and I was a bit nervous, but The Planting Tree customer service representative I spoke with was comfortable to consult with, and the company sent excellent saplings: well-formed, attractive, and healthy.
